A Repeat Of Our Brilliant Writing Competition

Following last year’s successful competition when lots of children sent in their suggestions for the setting of a new story in our Time Traveller series, we are running the competition again. If you are an aspiring writer now is your chance!

Two of our writers are busy working on books that feature the places of historic interest and the period of history suggested by our previous winners. The winners names will appear on the title page of a book about Chatsworth House in Derbyshire and Styal Mill near Manchester, both to be published in 2012.

Have you been on a visit to an historic site? The site can be anywhere in the UK or in the world; a castle, a mansion house, a monument or somewhere outdoors. The important thing is, it must have historic interest, so don’t write about theme parks! Don’t worry if you have not visited anywhere like that, you can still enter by choosing a place you have read about or researched on the internet and would like to visit.

Describe the historic site and explain why it would be a good setting for a new Time Traveller book. Provide the date and period of history to which the twenty-first century child would return. To win you will need to use at least 300 words and choose somewhere not already covered in the series. (you can check these out on our website).

To enter, download and fill in this form and attach it to your piece of writing before sending off. Schools can send multiple entries using one form. Send to:

The closing date is 31st April 2012. But if you get your entry ready before then send it in.

1st Prize: Your idea used in a Time Traveller story with your name on the title page with the author of the book, and a cash prize of £25.00.

2nd and 3rd Prizes: cash amounts of £15.00 and £10.00 respectively.

Three commended prizes of £5.00 will be awarded if sufficient entries warrant this.

The judges for the competition will be announced on our website in due course.

If an entry submitted by a school wins a prize, the school will receive 20 free titles for their library.
